Owaisi urges PM Modi to bring back Masood Azhar, 26/11 masterminds after US captures Venezuelan president; BJP reacts

BJP MP Ghulam Ali Khatana said that India’s counter-terror policy under the Narendra Modi government has been to target terrorists and not the countries.

Statesman News Service | New Delhi |

Following the US operation in Venezuela and abduction of Venezuelan President Nicolas Maduro, AIMIM chief Asaduddin Owaisi has suggested Prime Minister Narendra Modi undertake a similar operation to bring back the mastermind of the 26/11 terror attacks and Masood Azhar, the terrorist freed by the BJP government in 1999.

“If US President Donald Trump can abduct Venezuelan President Nicolas Maduro from his own country, then you (Prime Minister Modi) can also go to Pakistan and bring back the mastermind of the 26/11 terrorist attacks to India,” Owaisi said.

He further added, “We are telling you Modiji, you can also go into Pakistan and bring back those cruel people who hatched the conspiracies against Mumbai, be it Masood Azhar or LeT’s ruthless devils.”

His remarks follow US aggression in the Latin American country. The US launched a military operation and captured President Maduro and his wife from his residence.

According to reports, Maduro and his wife were dragged by the US special forces from their bedroom. The couple was later taken to New York where they will be charged under the US law.

‘Matter of deep concern’: India reacts to Venezuela crisis, urges dialogue and diplomacy

Meanwhile, BJP leaders have also responded to Owaisi’s remarks.

“Asaduddin Owaisi is known for sensational news. He is advising US President Donald Trump. I pray that the US President Donald Trump will consider his advice,” said Bihar minister Dilip Jaiswal.

Another BJP MP Ghulam Ali Khatana said that India’s counter-terror policy under the Narendra Modi government has been to target terrorists and not the countries. He added India is a responsible nation and won’t fall for any provocation.

Pinnacle operates more than 70 multi-disciplinary therapy centres across India, making it the country’s largest paediatric therapy network, and has delivered over 20 million one-to-one therapy sessions to date. The company’s proprietary Pinnacle Child Development Operating System (GPT-OS®) is a multi-patent-filed digital-therapeutic platform that measures, forecasts, and personalised every dimension of a child’s developmental journey across speech, motor, cognitive, and behavioural domains.

The GPT-OS® architecture integrates modules, including Diagnosis, Prognosis, Therapeutic AI®, AbilityScore®, Seven Readiness Indexes®, and TherapySphere™; multi-sensory therapeutic environments designed to accelerate neurological development in children with autism, speech delays, ADHD, and related conditions.

Investment Structure

The proposed funding is structured in two phases. Phase 1 comprises $70 million for rapid domestic expansion and technology acceleration. Phase 2 envisions a follow-on tranche as Pinnacle expands into Southeast Asia and the GCC. Capital deployment would fund expansion from 70+ to 300 centres within 24 months, RCD acceleration for home-based TherapeuticAI® applications, large-scale manufacturing of TherapySphere™ sensory rooms, and regulatory submissions for international market access.

Dr. Koti Reddy Saripalli, Founder G Chairman, Bharath Healthcare Laboratories: “Fourteen years ago, we began with one conviction: no parent should ever be told there’s nothing more that can be done for their child. Today, we’ve delivered 20 million therapy sessions, and every single one generated data that makes the next session smarter. What we’ve built isn’t a clinic chain. It’s a learning system that compounds. The world has finally recognized that developmental health is not charity; it’s essential infrastructure. We’re not raising capital to grow. We’re raising capital to ensure that every child on earth who needs measurable therapy can access it starting from their own home.

In an official statement, the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) said it was closely monitoring developments in the South American nation and reiterated India’s support for the safety and well-being of the Venezuelan people.

India on Sunday expressed deep concern over the rapidly evolving situation in Venezuela and called on all parties involved to return to dialogue and peaceful engagement to ensure stability in the region.

In an official statement, the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) said it was closely monitoring developments in the South American nation and reiterated India’s support for the safety and well-being of the Venezuelan people.

“Recent developments in Venezuela are a matter of deep concern. We are closely monitoring the evolving situation,” the MEA said, urging restraint and diplomatic efforts to resolve the crisis.

The MEA emphasised the importance of diplomacy, calling on all stakeholders to address the issues through peaceful means. “We call upon all concerned to address issues peacefully through dialogue, ensuring peace and stability in the region,” the statement added.

India also assured continued support to its nationals in Venezuela, stating that the Indian Embassy in Caracas remains in contact with members of the Indian community and is providing all possible assistance.

Travel advisory issued for Indian nationals

A day earlier, the MEA issued a travel advisory, urging Indian citizens to avoid all non-essential travel to Venezuela amid rising uncertainty. Indians currently in the country were advised to exercise extreme caution, limit their movements, and remain in constant touch with the Indian Embassy.

“In view of recent developments in Venezuela, Indian nationals are strongly advised to avoid all non-essential travel to Venezuela,” the MEA said, sharing emergency contact details, including an email helpline and a WhatsApp-enabled emergency phone number.

The advisory and statement come in the wake of dramatic developments in Venezuela, where President Nicolas Maduro and his wife Cilia Flores were captured in Caracas and flown out of the country following a joint operation involving US law enforcement and intelligence agencies. The incident has significantly heightened political tensions and uncertainty across the region.

ANI | New Delhi |

Bangladesh’s elite force, the Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) has arrested the three main accused in the murder of Khokon Das (50), a pharmacy owner and bKash agent from Shariatpur, Chief Adviser’s Press Wing said on Sunday.

According to information provided by RAB-8 and the Intelligence Wing in Dhaka, a team from RAB-14, CPC-2, Kishoreganj Camp, led by Company Commander ASP Shahjahan, conducted an operation around 1:00 am on Saturday night and arrested the named suspects Sohag, Rabbi, and Palash from the Bajitpur area of Kishoreganj.

Shariatpur Superintendent of Police Rawnak Jahan stated that before his death, the victim Khokon Das mentioned the names of the accused.

She further said that Khokon Das, son of Paresh Das, was a medicine shop owner and a bKash agent. On the night of 31 December 2025, at around 9:30 p.m., he was returning home after closing his business at Keherbhanga Bazaar.

When he reached the Tilai area near his home, 3-4 unidentified assailants launched a sudden attack on him with sharp weapons, inflicting multiple injuries and snatching the cash he was carrying.

After realising that the victim had recognised some of them, the attackers poured petrol on his body and face and set him on fire in an attempt to kill him. Hearing his screams, local residents rushed to the scene, prompting the attackers to flee.

Later, locals rescued Khokon Das in a critically injured and burnt condition and admitted him to Shariatpur Sadar Hospital. As his condition deteriorated, the attending doctors referred him to Dhaka Medical College Hospital for advanced treatment.

He later succumbed to his injuries while undergoing treatment.

The Superintendent of Police added that the arrested individuals are locally known as hooligans and are reportedly involved in drug abuse.

Khokon Das’s nephew-in-law, Pranto Das, told ANI that the family is seeking a proper investigation and justice for the killing. He said none of the perpetrators should be allowed to escape, stressing that those identified must be arrested without delay.

Choosing peace and friendship

Their message was clear. This separation comes from a place of understanding, not conflict. “Today, we choose to part ways on a journey called life, yet we continue to have each other’s back. Peace, growth, kindness and humanity have always been our guiding values,” they wrote.

Despite going their separate ways, they plan to continue supporting each other and maintaining a friendship.

“We continue to respect one another, support one another, and remain friends, as we always have been. With mutual respect, we ask for your respect, love and kindness as we move forward,” they concluded.

Mahhi Vij-Jay Bhanushali relationship and marriage

Mahhi and Jay’s love story began long before marriage. They tied the knot in 2011, after dating for some time. US airstrikes in Venezuela: President Maduro held in custody, at least 40 killed | What we know so far

The United States on Saturday carried out a military operation in Venezuela, targeting a key army base and capturing President Nicolas Maduro and his wife Cilia Flores, escalating the long-running Venezuela crisis to an unprecedented level.

Statesman News Service | New Delhi |

The United States on Saturday carried out a military operation in Venezuela, targeting a key army base and capturing President Nicolas Maduro and his wife Cilia Flores, escalating the long-running Venezuela crisis to an unprecedented level.

Following the airstrikes, Maduro and Flores were flown from Caracas to New York City. The Venezuelan leader is now being held at the Metropolitan Detention Center in Brooklyn. He is expected to face serious drug trafficking and weapons charges in a Manhattan federal court.

Maduro is expected to appear before a federal judge in Manhattan, where prosecutors are likely to seek his continued detention pending trial. Meanwhile, Venezuela remains on edge as diplomatic tensions rise and the international community debates the legality and consequences of the US action.

As per media reports, Venezuelan officials have said at least 40 people were killed in the strikes. This included civilians and members of the armed forces, raising concerns over the humanitarian impact of the operation.

US President Donald Trump confirmed the capture by releasing the first image of Maduro aboard the US warship USS Iwo Jima, posting on Truth Social: “Nicolas Maduro on board the USS Iwo Jima.” Also, the United States released a video earlier today showing Maduro in handcuffs, staging a ‘perp walk’ as he was escorted into custody.

Inside ‘Operation Absolute Resolve’

Senior US military officials said the mission, codenamed Operation Absolute Resolve, was the result of months of planning and coordination.

Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff General Dan Razin Caine described the operation as “discreet and precise,” stating that President Trump authorized the mission at 10:46 pm Eastern Time on Friday night.

More than 150 US aircraft, including bombers, fighter jets, surveillance planes and helicopters, were deployed. One aircraft sustained damage but remained operational, and all US assets returned safely.

According to Caine, Maduro and his wife, both already indicted in the US, surrendered and were taken into custody by the Department of Justice.

US charges Maduro with narco-terrorism, cocaine trafficking

Soon after his arrival in New York, US federal prosecutors unsealed a sweeping indictment accusing Maduro of leading a narco-terrorism and cocaine trafficking network for over two decades.

US Attorney General Pam Bondi said the charges were filed in the Southern District of New York, alleging that Maduro used Venezuela’s military, intelligence, and law enforcement agencies to facilitate massive cocaine shipments toward the United States since 1999.

Maduro faces charges including narco-terrorism conspiracy, cocaine importation conspiracy, firearms offenses, and related crimes, which could carry life sentences if convicted.

The indictment names several high-profile co-accused, including Maduro’s wife Cilia Flores, his son Nicolas Ernesto Maduro Guerra, Interior Minister Diosdado Cabello Rondón, and former minister Ramon Rodriguez Chacín.

Delcy Rodriguez named interim President after Maduro’s capture

In Caracas, Venezuela’s Supreme Court appointed Vice President Delcy Rodriguez as Interim President, citing the need to maintain administrative continuity following Maduro’s “forced absence.”

The court said it would review legal mechanisms to ensure governance and national defence. Rodriguez, a close Maduro ally, accused the US of aggression and warned of attempts to seize Venezuela’s energy and mineral resources.

“There is only one president in this country, and his name is Nicolas Maduro,” she said in a defiant address.

President Trump, however, said the US had allowed Rodriguez to remain in place, claiming she was willing to cooperate to stabilize Venezuela.

UNSC calls emergency meeting on Venezuela

The UN Security Council has announced it would hold an emergency meeting on Monday to discuss the US military operation.

UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres expressed deep alarm, calling the action a “dangerous precedent” that could have far-reaching implications for international law and global stability.

Global reactions pour in: China condemns, Israel backs US, Russia objects

World leaders reacted sharply to the US airstrikes and Maduro’s capture.

China strongly condemned the operation, calling it a violation of Venezuela’s sovereignty and international law. Russia urged Washington to release Maduro and his wife, describing them as Venezuela’s “legitimately elected leaders.”

In contrast, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu praised President Trump’s “bold and historic leadership.” Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy made an indirect reference to Russian President Vladimir Putin, suggesting the operation sent a strong signal to authoritarian leaders.

Smog shrouds Delhi as AQI remains ‘Poor’ at 248, breathing discomfort persists

Delhi AQI,Delhi Pollution | New Delhi |

Delhi’s air quality continued to remain in the ‘poor’ category on Sunday, with the national capital recording an overall Air Quality Index (AQI) of 248, according to data from the Central Pollution Control Board (CPCB). The deteriorating air caused breathing discomfort to most people on prolonged exposure, even as residents woke up to a chilly and windy morning.

Several key monitoring stations across the city reported AQI levels in the ‘very poor’ range. Anand Vihar recorded an AQI of 350, Rohini 361, Chandni Chowk 355, Mundka 329 and R.K. Puram 322, while ITO registered an AQI of 309. Air quality was comparatively better at NSIT Dwarka and the Indira Gandhi International (IGI) Airport, both recording an AQI of 177, placing them in the ‘moderate’ category.

Despite the smoggy conditions, Republic Day parade rehearsals continued at India Gate, where a visible layer of smog reduced visibility. Security personnel and parade participants carried on with preparations as scheduled for the upcoming national celebrations.

The India Meteorological Department (IMD) said Delhi recorded a minimum temperature of around 9 degrees Celsius on Sunday morning. Fog was observed during the early hours, though weather conditions are expected to improve from the afternoon. The IMD has forecast Sunday’s maximum temperature to hover between 18°C and 19°C, while the minimum is likely to range from 7°C to 8°C.

Meanwhile, the Sub-Committee on the Graded Response Action Plan (GRAP) under the Commission for Air Quality Management (CAQM) in NCR and adjoining areas revoked Stage-III restrictions on Friday evening, citing a significant improvement in air quality due to favourable meteorological conditions.

However, authorities have urged citizens to strictly follow the guidelines under Stages I and II of the existing GRAP schedule to prevent further deterioration in air quality. The government also clarified that construction and demolition sites issued specific closure orders for violations or non-compliance with statutory norms will not be allowed to resume operations without explicit approval from the Commission.

The Sub-Committee said it will continue to closely monitor the air quality situation and review conditions periodically, taking further decisions based on forecasts provided by the IMD and the Indian Institute of Tropical Meteorology (IITM).

BJP alleges Rs 100 crore scam in flood relief compensation in West Bengal

The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) alleged large-scale corruption in the distribution of flood relief compensation in West Bengal, accusing the Mamata Banerjee-led state government of being involved in a scam amounting to nearly Rs 100 crore in Malda district.

ANI | New Delhi |

The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) alleged large-scale corruption in the distribution of flood relief compensation in West Bengal, accusing the Mamata Banerjee-led state government of being involved in a scam amounting to nearly Rs 100 crore in Malda district.

Addressing a press conference at the BJP’s central office in New Delhi on Saturday, BJP National Spokesperson KK Sharma said serious irregularities have been detected in the disbursement of compensation meant for flood-affected people. He stated that the issue came to light after multiple applications were filed before the Calcutta High Court, following which the court directed the Comptroller and Auditor General (CAG) to conduct a detailed inquiry and submit a report.

Sharma said that facts emerging from the CAG report, parts of which have been published in newspapers, point towards large-scale misappropriation of public funds. “Based on the facts that have come to light, it is clear that the Mamata Banerjee government in West Bengal is completely immersed in corruption,” he alleged.

According to the BJP spokesperson, the manner in which compensation meant for flood victims was distributed amounted to “loot and inhuman plunder,” as the relief funds were intended to support people who had already suffered severe losses due to floods. Sharma claimed that irregularities amounting to approximately Rs 100 crore have been revealed through the findings of the CAG report.

Terming the alleged scam shameful and painful, Sharma said flood victims who lost their homes, belongings and means of livelihood were subjected to corruption even in the assistance meant for their rehabilitation. He further said that four major categories of irregularities have come to light during the investigation.

The first category relates to the Harishchandrapur-II area of Malda district, where compensation was reportedly disbursed to around 6,985 people for damage to houses. Sharma alleged that for the same house and the same bank account, compensation was released multiple times, ranging from two to as many as 42 times. He cited an instance in which one individual allegedly received compensation 42 times for the same damaged house, highlighting what he termed as serious corruption.

The second category involves the alleged disbursement of nearly Rs 7.5 crore as compensation for damage to 1,609 pucca houses. Sharma claimed that the District Magistrate’s report for the same district clearly stated that no pucca houses had been damaged during the floods. Despite this, compensation was allegedly paid to 1,609 beneficiaries.

In the third category, Sharma alleged that around 108 individuals, including public representatives, government employees and local Trinamool Congress (TMC) leaders, were given compensation meant for Below Poverty Line (BPL) flood victims, even though they were drawing regular salaries or holding public office.
The fourth category of irregularity, he alleged, involved the disbursement of approximately Rs 7 crore as compensation to individuals who had not even applied for flood relief assistance.

“These facts clearly show the scale of scams and the insensitivity with which the Mamata Banerjee government has handled money meant for the poor and flood-affected people,” Sharma said.

He added that the matter is currently under consideration in the Calcutta High Court and expressed confidence that justice would be delivered. Referring to the upcoming Assembly elections in the state, Sharma said that along with the judiciary, the verdict of the people would be the greatest form of justice.
“The people of West Bengal will give a fitting reply to this loot, plunder and corruption through their votes and defeat the Mamata government in the forthcoming Assembly elections,” he said.

‘Will cut your tongue’: Telangana CM Revanth Reddy in fiery response to KCR’s ‘skin him’ threat

Recalling KCR’s 2021 statement, in which he allegedly threatened political opponents while criticising the Centre and BJP leader Bandi Sanjay Kumar, Telangana CM Revanth Reddy said, “We will not just skin them, but we will cut their tongue,” asserting his government’s unwavering commitment to Telangana’s development and the welfare of its farmers.

Statesman News Service | New Delhi |

Telangana Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy has strongly responded to a past threat made by Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) chief and Leader of Opposition K Chandrashekar Rao (KCR), putting the remarks on the official record and warning of a firm response.

Recalling KCR’s 2021 statement, in which he allegedly threatened political opponents while criticising the Centre and BJP leader Bandi Sanjay Kumar, Reddy said, “We will not just skin them, but we will cut their tongue,” asserting his government’s unwavering commitment to Telangana’s development and the welfare of its farmers.

Addressing the Assembly Speaker, the Chief Minister emphasised that while criticism is a democratic right, questioning the government’s loyalty and dedication to the state would not be tolerated. “You may remove this from the records, but I am officially making this statement to register it in the minds of the public,” Reddy said.

Revanth Reddy has frequently accused KCR’s party of mismanagement and corruption, particularly in areas concerning irrigation projects and farmer schemes. This statement too comes amid ongoing political tensions between the Congress-led government and the BRS.

Reddy’s remarks triggered an immediate protest from BRS legislators, who staged a walkout from the Assembly, demanding an apology. The incident underscores the growing acrimony between the ruling Congress and the opposition BRS.

“Mumbai and Mumbaikars must be freed from the clutches of corruption and from the grip of greedy predators. For this purpose, the strong Bhima of the Mahayuti is fully prepared. Those who indulged in corruption in garbage management, roads, khichdi distribution, and desilting of the Mithi River are not “work emperors” but have become “corruption emperors,” Shiv Sena chief and Deputy Chief Minister Eknath Shinde said while launching a sharp attack on UBT.
He expressed confidence that the saffron flag of the Mahayuti will fly over Mumbai on January 16. Shinde was speaking at the Mahayuti’s campaign rally held in Worli. Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis and other senior Mahayuti leaders were present on the occasion, according to an official statement.

Deputy Chief Minister Shinde strongly criticised the alleged corrupt administration of the UBT-led Mumbai Municipal Corporation. Raising a series of pointed questions, he asked who pushed Marathi people out of Mumbai, stalled metro projects, ruined BEST, misused khichdi meant for COVID patients, profited from body bags, crushed the housing dreams of the poor, handed over prime land to the rich, deceived BDD Chawl residents and mill workers, and displaced Patra Chawl residents.

He said their ideology was “corruption first,” while Mahayuti’s ideology was “Mumbai first.” “Maharashtra Fast and Mumbai Superfast” is the alliance’s mission. For them, the letter “M” stands for money, selfish interests, and arrogance; for Mahayuti, it stands for Marathi, Maharashtra, and Mahayuti. Those who confined Marathi people to slums kept building mansions every year, he alleged, adding that while brokers thrived earlier, Mumbai has transformed in the last three-and-a-half years.

Accusing UBT leaders of compromising Balasaheb Thackeray’s ideology for power, Shinde said the real betrayal was abandoning principles. “We did not grab power; we stepped away from it to protect Shiv Sena and Balasaheb’s ideology,” he said.
He further alleged that for years, they focused only on amassing wealth. “You looted Mumbai’s treasury. You want to secure your future; we want to secure Mumbaikars’ future,” he said, calling the rally a clarion call against corruption.
Shinde said key decisions were taken for Mumbai and Marathi people during his tenure as Chief Minister, including granting classical language status to Marathi. “They care about the municipal treasury, not Marathi. They treated Mumbai like a hen laying golden eggs–now they want to slaughter it,” he said.

He added that fear-mongering helped them win elections in 2012 and 2017, but Marathi people would no longer fall for opportunistic politics. Mumbai belongs to Marathi people and will always remain part of Maharashtra, he asserted.
Highlighting Mahayuti’s momentum, Shinde said 68 corporators were elected unopposed for the first time in Maharashtra’s history. “We won the Lok Sabha, achieved a historic Assembly victory, secured over 75% seats in municipal councils, and now aim for a fourth consecutive win in municipal corporations. 2025 was just the trailer–the full movie is yet to come,” he said.

Referring to Chief Minister Fadnavis, Shinde said, “We are brothers, and the Ladki Bahin scheme will not be discontinued.”
Deputy Chief Minister Shinde strongly criticised the UBT-MNS alliance. “Those who now claim to have united for the Marathi people should explain why and for whom they separated 20 years ago. It was driven by selfishness and ego. Now that the public has sounded the band, they remember the brand. But the real brand is Balasaheb Thackeray alone, and the common Mahayuti worker is our brand,” said Shinde.

Bastar Range Inspector General of Police P. Sundarraj said that 2025 marked a decisive turning point in the fight against Left-Wing Extremism in the region, with security forces killing 256 Naxals in encounters and facilitating the surrender of more than 1,500 Maoists during the year.

Bastar Range Inspector General of Police P. Sundarraj said that 2025 marked a decisive turning point in the fight against Left-Wing Extremism in the region, with security forces killing 256 Naxals in encounters and facilitating the surrender of more than 1,500 Maoists during the year.

“In 2025, in various encounters in the Bastar division, 256 Naxals were killed… More than 1,500 Naxals surrendered. Their rehabilitation work is being done,” IG Sundarraj told ANI on Saturday.
Speaking to the media, the Bastar IG said sustained intelligence-based operations, coordinated action by multiple security agencies, and focused area domination had significantly weakened Maoist networks across the Bastar division. He added that surrendered cadres are being rehabilitated under government policies to help reintegrate them into the mainstream.

His statement came after security forces recovered the bodies of 14 Maoists following multiple encounters in the Bijapur and Sukma districts. According to the IG, the operation was launched based on specific intelligence inputs about the Maoist movement in the southern parts of the two districts.
“During the operation, multiple encounters took place between security forces and Maoists. After conducting searches in the area, two Maoist bodies were recovered from Bijapur district and 12 from Sukma district, taking the total to 14,” Sundarraj said. He added that a large cache of graded weapons, including an AK-47 and INSAS rifles, was also seized from the encounter sites.

An official release described 2025 as a historic year for the Bastar Range, citing major breakthroughs against Maoist leadership, large-scale recovery of arms, and the surrender of senior cadres. These developments, the release said, have created a strong foundation for long-term peace and stability in the region.
“Significant achievements on the fronts of security, peace, justice, and development have marked the year 2025. Precise and timely intelligence-based operations and strong coordination among security forces have established decisive control over Naxalite activities,” Sundarraj said in the release.

The improved security situation has also had a positive impact on development and public welfare in Bastar. Authorities said expansion of roads, communication networks, healthcare, and education facilities has accelerated, ensuring better delivery of government welfare schemes to remote and previously inaccessible areas.

Govinda gun accident explained: Niece Ragini Khanna breaks silence after Saif Ali Khan stabbing case

Govinda’s niece Ragini Khanna has finally addressed the rumours around the actor’s 2024 gun accident. She says the injury was genuine, accidental, and thoroughly investigated by the police, with no foul play involved.

Statesman News Service | New Delhi |

It was one of those headlines that made everyone stop scrolling. A Bollywood star. A gun. A late-night accident. And a lot of questions. When Govinda landed in the hospital in 2024 with a gunshot wound, the gossip mills went into overdrive. Was it really an accident? Or was there more to the story? Months later, his niece Ragini Khanna has finally spoken up.

A morning that shocked the family

The news did not come gently. Ragini Khanna recalled the moment she first heard about the incident, and it left her shaken.

She said her mother told her that “Chichi mama ko goli lag gayi” (Govinda had been shot). Like anyone would, Ragini panicked. Her first thought was simple and terrifying: who shot him?

Soon after, the family learned the truth. According to Ragini, she was told that Govinda had accidentally shot himself when his gun slipped while he was cleaning it. The moment hit her hard. She admitted she became emotional and rushed to the hospital to see him.

What really happened that night

The incident took place on October 1, 2024, at Govinda’s Juhu home in Mumbai. It was around 4 am when the actor was cleaning his revolver. In a freak accident, the gun slipped from his hand and went off. The bullet grazed his leg just below the knee.

Govinda was immediately rushed to CritiCare Asia Hospital in Andheri West. The injury was serious but not life-threatening. Doctors treated him, and he was later discharged after recovery.

Rumours, doubts, and loud whispers

As expected, social media had its own theories. Many questioned how a seasoned celebrity could accidentally shoot himself. Some even hinted at foul play. The doubts grew louder because gun-related incidents involving celebrities always draw attention.

During her interview with Vickey Lalwani, Ragini was directly asked about these doubts especially in comparison to other high-profile cases like Saif Ali Khan’s that involved crime and investigation.

“You can’t fake this,” says Ragini

Ragini shut down the rumours by pointing to the scale of the investigation. She revealed that nearly 200 police officers were present at the hospital, with around 50 stationed outside Govinda’s home.

According to her, such intense scrutiny leaves no room for cover-ups.

She said she has full faith in the police and their investigation.

When Govinda broke his silence

After being discharged, Govinda addressed the media himself. He admitted the wound was deep and shocking. He said that when it happened, he couldn’t even believe it at first.

Then he also took responsibility, calling himself a bit carefree by nature and admitting he should have been more cautious.
