In a strategic political move ahead of Independence Day, the Uttar Pradesh unit of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) is set to launch a large-scale 'Tiranga Yatra' campaign across the state from August 10 to 15, an initiative seen as a direct response to Samajwadi Party (SP) chief Akhilesh Yadav’s much-talked-about 'PDA Pathshala.'
On the sixth anniversary of abrogation of Article 370 on Tuesday, Kashmir-centric political parties, including the ruling National Conference, staged protests across the valley demanding restoration of the special status of Jammu and Kashmir, while the BJP took out a ‘Tiranga Rally’ in Srinagar’s Lal Chowk to celebrate the occasion.

After the chief minister, Mamata Banerjee announced the party’s solidarity with the nation and with the armed forces in the form of Tiranga Yatra, one such yatra was held in the district.
The ‘Tiranga Rally’, which commenced from Sher-i-Kashmir Park and terminated at the Lal Chowk, was led by BJP leader and chairperson of J&K Waqf Board, Darakhshan Andrabi.
