‘Exemplary courage’: CDS applauds troops’ bravery and professionalism amid Western threats

The awardees for 2023 included Wing Commander D Panda, and EA (R) Rahul Kumar Pandey (IN).
During the visit, Gen Chauhan engaged in extensive discussions with Admiral David Johnston, Australia’s Chief of Defence Force, and members of the Chiefs of Staff Committee.
CDS Chauhan stressed the need for heightened preparedness and vigilance amidst the evolving global security dynamics.
The general also stressed the importance of embracing technological advancements, strategic thinking, and adaptability to navigate the changing landscape of warfare.
He highlighted four distinct areas of India’s Defence viz operational preparedness, modernisation, transformation and indigenisation.
Presenting the Kargil Honours to mark 25 years of Kargil Vijay Diwas, he thanked the ''Veterans and Veer Naris'' for their immense contributions and sacrifices during the Kargil War.
He was interacting with the 'Agniveers' undergoing training at Maratha Regimental Centre and Airmen Training School (ATS), Belagavi.
Inputs on national strategic issues impacting national security in both the civil and military domains were also deliberated upon.
