A 22-year-old Afghani student of Delhi University committed suicide by hanging himself from the ceiling fan inside his rented accommodation in Model Town area of north-west Delhi this morning. A suicide note written in Urdu has been recovered from the spot.
Police said that Abdul Hamid was apparently living in depression following a failed love relationship with a girl in the Capital.
According to the deputy commissioner of police (north-west), Abdul, who was pursuing his final-year in computer science degree from Hansraj College, north campus of Delhi University.
The incident was reported to police at around 11.30 am.
"Hamid was spotted hanging by his landlord who had gone to meet him at his rented accommodation situated at the second-floor of the house at around 11.15 am and then made a police control room call," said the police.
