Delhi BJP chief Virendra Sachdeva said Dr. Anil Gupta, an environmental expert, showed live on TV that after eight months of cleaning work, the river water has no foul smell, while the dissolved oxygen level is between 4.5 and 5.5, and the pH level is 7.5, which is close to nomal.
The Yamuna’s water level in Delhi continued to recede on Sunday, a week after heavy rainfall in the upper Himalayas forced massive releases from the Hathnikund barrage that inundated several low-lying areas of the city.
On Monday earlier this week, Gehlot at a function in Neem Ka Thana (Sikar) targeted his successor Sharma for the latter's commitment to fetching the Yamuna water, under an accord with Haryana, to "Neem Ka Thana", one of the towns of the Shekhawati region, which faces significant challenges regarding its water supply and quality.
Stepping up his attack on AAP National Convenor Arvind Kejriwal, Leader of the Opposition in the Lok Sabha Rahul Gandhi dared him to drink the water supplied in the slums leaving aside Yamuna water.
Amid the Yamuna water row, Arvind Kejriwal on Thursday challenged the BJP and Congress leaders to drink the high ammonia content water which he claimed is being supplied to the people in the city, or issue a public apology in this regard.
Kejriwal will have to apologize to the people of Delhi, Haryana, and the Haryana government, otherwise, it will file a defamation and criminal conspiracy case against AAP chief: Ram Chander Jangra
The Delhi water minister wrote to the chief ministers of the neighbouring states requesting them to ensure the release of additional water to the national capital for a month.
She said her government was in talks with Haryana on the issue but if no solution is found, the Delhi government might think of approaching the Supreme Court on the matter.
