Ahead of Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s political rally in Cooch Behar tomorrow, two BJP candidates Raju Bista for Darjeeling and Sukanta Majumdar for Balurghat filed their nomination papers, today.
BJP candidate for Darjeeling Lok Sabha seat Raju Bista started campaigning throughout the day in different areas in Siliguri today to retain his seat for the second time.
The BJP has finally announced its candidates for three Lok Sabha seats in North Bengal. The sitting MP Dr Jayanta Roy will contest from Jalpaiguri for a second time.
The raid yielded Rs 27.90 crore in unaccounted for cash and Rs 4.31 crore in gold, apart from incriminating documents.

"There seems to be a section of politicians who are deliberately misinterpreting the BJP commitment to promote mother tongues--Bengali, Nepali, Rajbongshi, Kurmali, Santhali and other languages, as stated in our manifesto, as being BJP attempt at imposing Bengali," Mr Bista said.
Bista, who is looking into the Hill, Terai and Dooars affairs ahead of the Assembly elections, also talked about the Gorkhaland Territorial Administration (GTA), which he termed as a product of Mamata Banerjee, who looks after the Hill affairs.
