According to the IMD, the national capital will see very light to light rain or thunderstorms on June 19 evening, night, accompanied by gusty winds reaching up to 50 kmph.
Delhi experienced another sweltering day on Saturday, with the maximum temperature reaching 41.8 degrees Celsius, even as the India Meteorological Department (IMD) forecast light showers in the coming days.
The national capital woke to another day of foggy morning followed by light drizzle on Monday that kept the temperature low, however the Air Quality Index (AQI) remained in the ‘severe’ category.
The India Meteorological Department (IMD) had predicted rainfall in parts of Delhi including ITO, India Gate, Akshardham, Lodi Road, Nehru Stadium, Defence Colony, Lajpat Nagar, Kalkaji.
In a post on X, the India Meteorological Department (IMD) said, "Haryana and Delhi are likely to experience light to moderate rainfall accompanied with thunderstorms, gusty winds and hailstorms during next 2-3 hours."
All eyes on IMD's forecast for light rain on November 27
Thunderstorm/Dust storm with light to moderate intensity rain and gusty winds with speed of 30-50 Km/h would occur over and adjoining areas of many places of Delhi.
An AQI between zero and 50 is considered good, 51 and 100 satisfactory, 101 and 200 moderate, 201 and 300 poor, 301 and 400 very poor, and 401 and 500 severe.
The IMD has predicted continuous rainfall in Delhi till Friday, however, the city is unlikely to receive a heavy spell of downpour during this period.
