A drug peddler was arrested in Mumbai for allegedly carrying MDMA (Methylenedioxy methamphetamine) worth Rs 15.42 lakh, police said on Thursday.
According to the police, a competent authority under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act has ordered attachment of property of accused Sukhandar Singh alias Mandar Singh and his family members.
The accused Thawe Edward was arrested from Sector 1, Pushp Vihar, Saket. Police recovered 307 grams of heroin/smack from his possession.
On sustained interrogation, accused Saraswati disclosed that she used to supply ganja in small packets to unknown persons in various parts of Delhi.
The Police said they had requested “a competent authority” in New Delhi to freeze the property of the Gurmail and the authority passed an order to attach the ill-gotten assets worth over Rs 83 lakh.
Besides, around 89 quintals of cannabis were also seized during the period by STF with 122 drug peddlers put behind bars.
The accused Mahendra Behera was arrested near P.N.High school in Jatani on the outskirts of the city with the contraband.
Rs 4.77 crore worth properties acquired by drug peddlers were earlier attached in Nabarangpur district in 2015.
In October 2021, police also attached assets of a drug smuggler of Kurukshetra and his family members valued at Rs 7.5 crore on the orders of the competent authority.
