The Waqf (Amendment) Bill, was initially introduced in Parliament in 2024 but was referred to the Joint Parliamentary Committee in the wake of stiff opposition to the original bill and to hear views/suggestions of the various stakeholders. It was reintroduced in 2025.
He joined the investigation on Thursday evening at Jamia Nagar Police station after a Delhi court granted interim protection from arrest.

Delhi Congress president Devender Yadav on Monday said the arrest of Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) MLA Amanatullah Khan by the Enforcement Directorate (ED) was another example of the “deep-rooted corruption” of the ruling dispensation in the capital.
Khan was directed by the top court to join the probe.
A Delhi court on Wednesday granted bail to Aam Admi Party MLA Amanatullah Khan in connection with a case of alleged irregularities at the Delhi Waqf Board, being investigated by the Anti-Corruption Branch
Khan was arrested on September 16. He was produced before the Rouse Avenue Court at the end of his five-day custodial interrogation by the Anti-Corruption Branch (ACB) which was allowed by the court on September 21.
