In a mocking reply to Congress Vice President Rahul Gandhi’s taunt on India slipping to 100th spot on the Global Hunger Index, Union Minister Smriti Irani on Saturday accused the Gandhi scion of “maligning” the nation.
Rahul Gandhi had on Friday tweeted a ‘sher’ by famous Hindi poet Dushyant Kumar, lampooning the Union government and Irani too decided to reply with a ‘sher’.
“The hunger for power will have to wait, you don’t have the figures with you, get all selfish people together and make noise ridicule the nation,” read the English rendition posted by the Union Cabinet Minister of Textiles and Information and Broadcasting in Hindi.

The Congress Vice President had on Friday tweeted: “If you are hungry, be patient! So what if you have no bread? Hunger is a hot topic, these days Of debate in the Delhi Durbar!”
The jibe came after the International Food Policy Research Institute (IFPRI) ranked India below countries like North Korea, Bangladesh and Iraq in its annual report on global hunger.
