A case of fraud was registered against Samajwadi Party leader Kunwar Ammar Ahmad in Saharanpur Kotwali Dehat on Friday evening. Ahmad had allegedly produced fake documents in support of his claim of appointment as director in the department of cooperatives.

SP(city) Prabal Pratap said investigation is underway and raids were conducted to arrest the accused who is absconding now.

Assistant development officer in cooperative department Ashok Tomar enquired about his appointment from Lucknow and found it to be fake. He, thereafter, lodged a case of fraud against Ammar Ahmad on Friday evening.

Ahmad is a resident of Shekhpur Kadeem locality in Saharanpur. He was president of SP youth wing in Rampur Assembly constituency.

Recently he announced on social media that he had been appointed as a director in department of cooperatives which is equivalent to a ministerial post. He uploaded the letter of the cooperatives principal secretary Hariraj Kishore and a secretariat pass in support of his claim.

His supporters took out a procession in the city and welcomed him at different places. But this shocked BJP leaders in Saharanpur. They raised questions over the letter issued by principal secretary as he was on medical leave since 1 May and died on Friday in Lucknow after prolonged illness. The date on which the letter was issued contradicted Ahmad’s claim that it was declared on Wednesday, June 13.

BJP’s district president Bijendra Kashyap met with SSP Babloo Kumar and other officials to verify the claims of the SP leader as party officials had no information about his appointment.
