The police which secured remand of arrested accused Dr Haramani Moharana, nurse Hemala Behera and auto driver Abhimanu Barik for three days interrogated them with regard to the death of a girl Siku Sutar earlier this month as well as another mysterious death that had occurred last year.

Police sources said the accused did admit to the Siku Sutar case but did not give any lead to the case of mysterious death of a girl last year. Siku, an unmarried girl who had conceived was admitted to the private clinic for abortion.

She died at the clinic and the three alongwith the father of the girl had disposed the body. All four were arrested and sent to jail. The police took them on remand for three days hoping to solve another mysterious death case of last year.

Since it was a similar case, we wanted to interrogate the doctor and nurse , but they denied any knowledge of it, said police sources. It may be recalled that police had recovered a decomposed dead body of a girl from a locked iron trunk from Dhartangada forest in March 2017.

After 11 months of this incidence, police has not been able to identify the victim. The police sources said the latest case of Siku Sutar who was found dead with the body packed in a sack and dumped near Dhartangada forest on 12 February was established.

The girl had been to the clinic with her father for abortion. She died during the treatment at the clinic. The clinic has been indulging in illegal practice of abortion, said police sources.
