The third International Yoga Day celebrated at Connaught Place on Wednesday was an example of unity in diversity as people from different castes and communities performed asanas sans any barriers.

A group named "Swastik Yoga group", consisting of 15 members from different religions, performed Acro Yoga at the podium in Connaught Place.

Mohammad Aadil Mansoori, one of the members of the group, said there is no harm in doing Yoga as its keeps everyone physically fit and healthy.

"I have been doing Yoga for the last three years with this group and religion has never come between us. Yoga has nothing to do with any religion or caste," said Aadil.

Aadil's friend, 38-year-old Meenakshi said Yoga brings peace and harmony to the nation. A mother of two, Meenakshi performs different Yoga asanas in her home daily.

"Yoga brings about healthy thinking and happiness. After performing different asanas it becomes easy for me to do household activities," said Meenakshi.

Another member of the group, Vijay Yadav, said people can control negative thoughts through Yoga. "If negative thoughts are controlled there will be no fights and peace will prevail," said Vijay.

Farhan, who came with his family to celebrate Yoga Day, was seen performing different asanas. He said he loves his religion but cannot connect it with every activity of his daily life. "Yoga is beyond the limitations of caste, creed, faith and religion," said Farhan.
