HYDERABAD, 25 JUNE: A cheating case filed against Union ministers Mr Sushil Kumar Shinde and Mr P Chidambaram for allegedly cheating the people of Telangana with false assurances on statehood has been closed.
Mr Chidambaram in December 2009 had announced that the process for carving a statehood has begun, but retracted his statement later. Early this year, Mr Shinde said the solution for statehood would be announced in a month, but the Congress leadership had said “a month does not necessarily mean a month”.
Hyberabad police officer Mr P Srinivas Reddy said after three days of investigation, the case has been closed for lack of evidence.
Telangana Junior Advocates Association member, Mr Naresh Kumar had filed a private petition in Court.
The case was lodged on the directive of a local court in January last under Section 420 of the IPC. The police sought legal opinion before closing the case.
Mr Kumar said his complaint is still pending in court and ff the court dismisses the petition, he will file a protest petition.
