Recent snapshots of our living earth relayed by satellites above have undoubtedly been among the most dramatic images ever encountered by humans. Earlier images, in comparison, would have much smaller areas of barren rocks and urban sprawl; much more extensive tree cover.

Delhi govt deploys 7 member task force to inspect industrial pollution

Environment Minister Gopal Rai, stated, "So far, 1280 industrial units have been inspected as part of DPCC's special effort, which was launched as part of the Summer Action Plan. DPCC has deployed a 7-member task force to monitor work as part of this initiative. In addition, all of Delhi's 1607 registered industrial units have been converted to PNG."

Rai concerned about rising pollution, writes to Environment minister

In his letter, Rai stated that due to the steps taken by the Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal, the number of good air quality days has increased and poor air quality days have gone down in the last four years, but as per Centre for Science and Environment’s report, 31 percent of air pollution comes from outside Delhi.

Policies needed to curb petrochemical usage

Environment-friendly technologies, regular monitoring of generated waste as well as disposal of petrochemicals will reduce the risk of exposure. Regulatory policies need to be strict to ensure workers’ health and environmental safety, in order to reduce health hazards and to save the environment and its biodiversity.
