The minister also accused the Congress, National Conference (NC) and Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) of staging fake encounters and handing over guns in the hands of the Kashmiri youth and these parties are responsible for encouraging terrorism in Jammu and Kashmir.
Political parties are worried that the migration is bound to upset their poll calculations.
The NC had unilaterally announced that it would field its candidates on all the three seats and fielded Mian Altaf from Anantnag. The NC had left two seats in Jammu for the Congress as part of the INDIA bloc's seat-sharing agreement.
Nasir Aslam Wani, who led the NC delegation, said they impressed upon the Election Commission the need for holding assembly elections in Jammu and Kashmir together with the Lok Sabha polls.
Panchayat elections on the vacant seats will be conducted in eight phases in the region in the month of March for which the ballot boxes will be used.
Mehbooba’s daughter Iltija Mufti has been operating her mother’s Twitter handle since August 5 last year following detention of the former chief minister in the wake of abrogation of article 370 provisions.
The name of Baig in the list of 16 persons who have been conferred the award has surprised also the political observers.
The PDP leaders were among a delegation of Kashmiri politicians who had earlier this week met the Lt. Governor GC Murmu at Jammu and the government had described it as an initiative towards the political process.
The PDP had applied for permission to hold a prayer meeting at the Bijbehara grave of the former chief minister but it was denied.
