Dr Yadav attended the nomination filing of BJP’s Chhindwara Lok Sabha candidate Vivek ‘Banti’ Sahu a couple of days ago.
Kamal Nath said that he will not contest the upcoming Lok Sabha elections form Jabalpur.
There were rumours that Kamal Nath will quit the Congress and join the BJP along with his son Nakul Nath.
Asked if he is joining the saffron party, Kamal Nath, on Saturday, told mediapersons: “Why are you all getting excited? If there is any such thing, you will be the first to be informed about it.”
Though the Congress has not officially declared its chief ministerial face for these assembly polls, Nath is seen as the frontrunner to become the CM again if the party manages to get a majority in the polls.
Madhya Pradesh is one of the five states set to hold elections this year. The state is scheduled to vote on November 17, with the vote count taking place on December 3.
War of words between the leaders of Samajwadi Party and Congress erupted after Kamal Nath took a jibe at Akhilesh Yadav, calling him "Vakhilesh".
Reacting to the development, the state chief minister, Shivraj Singh Chouhan, said while the BJP is seeking the blessings of people, the Congress is invoking “tantric kriyas” (sorcery) to win the polls.
As expected, the Congress finally released its first list of 144 candidates on the first day of Navratri on Sunday.
