Vice-President Jagdeep Dhankhar was the chief guest at University campus, New Delhi and delivered the convocation address.
During his interaction with the students, Dhankhar recalled his visit to Nalanda University on 29th September, on his maiden visit to the state of Bihar.
Emphasising on the need to be “vocal for local”, the VP said that this spirit was a facet of ‘Aatmanirbhar Bharat’, and reflected the essence of the ‘Swadeshi Andolan’ during India’s freedom struggle.
The vice-president said, ''We don't want our boys and girls to follow disruption, we don’t want them to appreciate shouting of slogans, showing placards (in the House).''
The vice-president wondered if, in the name of expression, one could run down the Supreme Court and two decades of thorough investigation.
Earlier in the day, Denmark's Crown Prince Frederik Andre Henrik Christian and Crown Princess Mary Elizabeth also met External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar. During the meeting, they discussed sustainability and digital delivery.
On the occasion, Jagdeep Dhankhar, describing the mela as a confluence of diverse cultures and arts of the country, said the participation of Shanghai Cooperation Organization countries in this mela is a historic moment.
Earlier on Thursday, President El-Sisi attended India's 74th Republic Day parade as the chief guest. He is the first Egyptian premier to have been invited to the Republic Day parade.
