Former Vice President Jagdeep Dhankhar was admitted to the All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS), New Delhi, on Monday, reportedly after losing consciousness.

According to reports, Dhankhar was taken to the AIIMS for a checkup as he experienced health issues on January 10. However, after initial checkups, doctors advised him to get admitted for further examination.

Dhankhar had tendered his resignation from the post of vice president last year, citing health issues.

In his resignation letter addressed to the President, Dhankhar had stated, “To prioritise health care and abide by medical advice, I hereby resign as the Vice President of India, effective immediately, in accordance with Article 67(a) of the Constitution.”

However, the sudden resignation on the first day of the Monsoon Session of Parliament in 2025 triggered speculation.

Certain Opposition leaders claimed that there was more to Dhankhar’s resignation than meets the eye. It was also linked to his decision to apparently accept an Opposition motion on a judge’s impeachement.
