The suppliers had allegedly arranged receipts of prescribed items from officials of the hospitals against the supply of the sub-standard items even in cases of short delivery or no delivery.
The resident doctors, after a brief interval of one week, resumed their protest and boycotted all services, including emergency services.
The resident doctors have been striking work since last Saturday over delays in NEET-2021 PG counselling, which is now pending the outcome of a batch of petitions being heard by the Supreme Court over economic reservations.
"Every year we witness an increase in the cases of viral fever and dengue. This year too, we have witnessed a similar surge. In comparison to last week when we had about 2,500 in all the departments combined, this week's figure has spiked to 3,000."
