The Anti Corruption Branch (ACB) of Delhi has arrested seven suppliers/ manufacturers and three laboratory owners for allegedly supplying sub-standard items to six Delhi government hospitals.

The arrested suppliers and lab owners are involved in the supply of sub-standard items to hospitals including the Lal Bahadur Shastri, LNJP, Deen Dayal Upadhyay, SGM, JSSH, and the GTB hospitals in connivance with the officials of these medical institutions.

According to an official, the suppliers had allegedly arranged receipts of prescribed items from officials of the hospitals against the supply of the sub-standard items even in cases of short delivery or no delivery.

The laboratory owners had supplied fake and forged lab reports against sub-standard items as per the case.

On August 18, 2023, teams of the vigilance wing of the Health & Family Welfare Department of GNCTD raided the hospitals collected samples of different items, and sent them to different labs.

During the probe, it was noticed that the alleged firms and suppliers had provided the requisite items through the GeM Portal.

Further investigation into the case revealed that the government officials intentionally avoided taking the desired lab reports and Licenses as mentioned in the GeM contract order.

According to the ACB, doctors, officials, and storekeepers connived in the case which is evident from the forged receipts issued by the hospitals without receiving the actual items have also surfaced.

The investigation has also revealed that the forged lab reports were prepared and records had been tampered with.
