Other states that have reported significant case numbers include Maharashtra (209), Delhi (104), Gujarat (83), and Karnataka (47).
The total COVID-19 caseload of the country has risen to 4,50,26,261. These also include the JN.1 Covid variant cases.
According to the ministry, Karnataka reported 61 cases, followed by Maharashtra 35 and Kerala 25 cases.
The Covid caseload rose to 4,50,21,383 with the addition of the new cases of infections.
Delhi Education Minister Manish Sisodia said, 'Extraordinary times call for extraordinary decisions and that is why we have decided to cancel examinations in all the state universities. Semester as well as terminal exams stand cancelled.'
During the meeting, the Prime Minister took stock of the situation in various parts of the country and the preparedness of various States.
Beyond its health effects, the Covid-19 pandemic and associated lockdowns have resulted in major social and economic losses worldwide, the researchers said.
Dharavi now has only 291 active Coronavirus cases, while 1,815 patients have recovered and discharged.
Friday's meeting of the 22-member PAC chaired by leader of Congress in Lok Sabha Adhir Ranjan Chowdhury was attended by 17 out of the total 20 members. Its two seats are vacant.
