UP: 94 candidates in fray in 2nd phase of LS polls

As per the list, former Health Minister KK Shylaja will contest from Vatakara constituency, while in Patahanamthitta, former minister Thomas Issac will try his luck.
In a video message, AAP convener Arvind Kejriwal announced the names of the candidates, adding that in a "revolutionary step", a candidate belonging to the Scheduled Caste (SC) community will be fielded from the East Delhi constituency, which is a general seat.
The polling for 200 seats is scheduled to take place on November 25.
Party sources said that the next list of candidates for these two states would be released on Saturday or Sunday.
"There is no question of any change. It is party chief Mamata Banerjee's instructions. Party leaders and workers will have to accept the list of candidates and work for them." A party insider, meanwhile, said: "If we break the list after changing a single candidate, it would be very difficult to tackle a chain of reaction."
The Left Front, after much deliberation on the matter of fielding candidates, which included a possible seat-sharing understanding with the Congress, has eventually decided to field its own candidates in about 127 seats and spare 17 wards for “non-Left” candidates.
BJP has fielded Ashok Mondal from the Dinhata Assembly constituency in West Bengal, Niranjan Biswas (Santipur), Joy Saha (Khardaha) and Palash Rana (Gosaba)
Abdur Rauf of All India Forward Block will be contesting from Dinhata assembly constituency while CPI-M’s Soumen Mahato will contest from Shantipur. CPI-M candidate Debajyoti Das will be contesting the Khardaha seat and RSP candidate Anil Chandra Mondal will be contesting from Gosaba.
Contesting polls for such candidates became possible after subsection 3 of section 33 in Tamil Nadu Panchayat Act, 1994 was amended to remove the clause, "deaf, mute and persons affected with leprosy" who were earlier barred from fighting polls.
