The Samajwadi Party has released its first list of 5 candidates for the biennial Uttar Pradesh Legislative Council (MLC) Teachers and Graduates elections.
The party would repeat 3 sitting members.

According to the party release here on Thursday, Lal Bihari Yadav has been fielded from the Varanasi-Mirzapur segment, while Kamlesh has been fielded from the Gorakhpur-Faizabad segment.
Dr. Man Singh has been nominated from the Allahabad-Jhansi segment, while Ashutosh Sinha has been nominated from the Varanasi-Mirzapur segment and Kanti Singh from the Lucknow segment. Lal Bihari Yadav, Dr. Man Singh, and Ashutosh Sinha are currently sitting MLCs and the party has repeated all the three.
Lucknow candidate Kanti Singh, who was also fielded by the Samajwadi Party in the last election, lost the polls against the BJP candidate. Kanti Singh is the owner of a reputed owner of a private chain of schools in Lucknow.
