Union Home Minister Rajnath Singh on Saturday said the situation in Kashmir has improved and infiltration has reduced by 45 per cent since the surgical strikes carried out by the Indian Army on the Line of Control (LoC).

"The security situation in Jammu and Kashmir has improved and over 368 terrorists have been neutralised between 2014 and 2017," Singh said.

"There has been a 65 per cent increase in the elimination of Left Wing Extremists (LWE) cadre and 185 per cent increase in their surrender," he added.

Saying that the government has been successful in countering the challenges posed by ISIS, the home minister said that the terror group has never been able to establish a hold in India.

"There is an improvement in the security situation in the country. We have been successful in countering the challenges posed by ISIS," he said, adding, "Despite having a large Muslim population, the ISIS has never been able to establish a hold in India."
