After Maneka Gandhi, the Union Minister for Women and Child Development, figured in a video apparently “threatening” the Muslim voters that she won’t be able to help them if they didn’t vote for her, another Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader from the party ruled state of Gujarat has reportedly conveyed the same “threat” to the voters of Dahod.

Ramesh Katara, BJP MLA from Gujarat’s Fatehpura, told the people that Prime Minister Narendra Modi has installed cameras in the polling booths and he would know who votes for the BJP and who votes for the Congress.

Addressing a gathering in Dahod Lok Sabha constituency, Katara, who was campaigning for BJP candidate from Dahod Jaswant Sinh Bhabhor, said, “You’ll see the photo of Jaswant Sinh Bhabhor (BJP candidate from Dahod) and the Lotus symbol on the EVM, look for that and press the button. There should not be any room for error as Modi sa’ab has installed cameras this time. He would watch sitting in Delhi and if BJP gets fewer votes from a particular booth, the area will get less government grants.

“Who has voted for the BJP and who has voted for Congress, it can be seen. Even Aadhaar Card and all other cards have your photo now so if there are lesser votes from your booth then Modi sa’ab will come to know who did not cast vote for the BJP and then you will not get work.”

Maneka Gandhi was served a show-cause notice after her video went viral and the Election Commission on Monday barred her from campaigning for 48 hours.
