Taxi association to launch phone-based cabs for upcoming board exams

Bengal Taxi Association (BTA) is going to launch phone-based cabs for the upcoming Madhyamik and Higher secondary examinations.

For the first time ever, keeping the Board exams in mind, the Association is going to run special cabs in the city for Secondary and Higher Secondary examinations.

The service will start from 12 March onwards when the West Bengal Board of Secondary Examination gets under way.

One has to be essentially an examinee to book this cab. The passengers will have a discount of 50 per cent for a distance of about five miles. Once booked, the special taxi for the examination centre will return in time to serve the same passenger and carry him home.

The Association will run as many as 125 special cabs in the name of “Adarsha Taxi” in addition to the normal fleet in the city to facilitate hassle-free journey to the examinees during this period.

Announcing this, Bimal Guha, general secretary, Bengal Taxi Association said, “Bengal Taxi Association for the first time is going to run special cabs in the name of “Adarsha Taxi” for the upcoming secondary and Higher secondary examinations. As many as 125 cabs in the name of Adarsha Taxi will hit the streets.

This facility will be available with a phone call at its city office. The numbers are 2475-3505 and 2474-2249.” Guha also said that to avail of this facility the phone calls should have to be made a day before the examination.

“But nonetheless the cabs will be available if the call is made on the exam day too. We have enough vehicles to deal with demands if it soars. We will run 125 cabs to begin with as an experimental basis.”

“The unique feature of this service will be it is once booked it will serve the passenger particularly the examinee in ferrying to the examination centre and then again back to home”, BTA general secretary said.
