Cornering the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) government in the state for deteriorating law and order situation in the state, Congress party took to streets across the state.

The protest was held at all the district headquarters on the call given by Himachal Pradesh Congress Committee (HPCC) Chief Sukhwinder Singh Sukhu in protest against the shootout incident at Kasuali wherein an Assistant Town and Country Planner was killed, while on duty.

Sukhu heading the protest at his home district, Hamirpur at Gandhi Chowk held demonstration along with the party workers to express their fury against the firing incident that killed the women official from the Town and Country Planning department.

The incident has shocked the entire state said Sukhu and charged that after the BJP assumed power, the law and order in the state has worsened and the anti-social elements are feeling encouraged.

The police remained mute spectators to the incident, which are an embarrassment, both for the state government and the police department, he lambasted, adding that the culprit was still at large and the police has announced reward money which has exposed the poor functioning of the police department.

He demanded the immediate arrest of the accused and trail of the case in the fast track court to punish the guilty.

Sukhu expressing condolence to the bereaved family of the TCP official prayed for the speedy recovery of the Public Works Department (PWD) employee who was seriously injured during the incident.

He said that there was a state of complete anarchy and chaos in the country since the Prime Minister Narendra Modi assumed power at the Centre.
Rapes and subsequent murders in Uttar Pradesh, Haryana and Jammu and Kashmir are vivid examples, he added.

BJP has handed over the law and order system of the country and the states in the hands of the criminals, he alleged. Under the three months rule of the BJP government in HP, rape, murders and other criminal activities have increased, he charged.

He cautioned the Jai Ram government to pay attention to the law and order situation in the state instead of focusing on party politics.

Meanwhile, the Congress party worker in Shimla held a protest outside the Congress office and also burnt the effigy of CM.

Shimla (Rural) legislator Vikramaditiya Singh expressing shock over the incident termed it a total failure of the state government in maintaining law and order situation in the state.

Condemning the incident, he expressed surprise that the incident occurred in the presence of the police and the accused even managed to give the police a slip.

It is a clear the state government has failed to protect the officials and the employees who were giving their duty to follow the orders of the judiciary, he charged.
