Former chief minister and leader of Opposition Prem Kumar Dhumal on Monday urged the people to the state to throw Congress out of power in Himachal Pradesh to root out rampant corruption.

While addressing a public meeting after filing nomination at Sujanpur in Hamirpur district, Dhumal said Congress has failed on all fronts in its five years rule as it was mired by corruption and inefficient governance.

“The roads are considered to the lifeline of the hill state as there was not much scope for air and rail services. Though the Congress government failed to improve or develop road infrastructure in the state, resulting in bad conditions of roads across the state,” he said.

Apart from roads, the education system in the state is also in tatters and students are the worst sufferers of the wrong policies of the Congress government. Further, the government failed to maintain law and order in the state, leading to rise in crime cases particularly against women, he said.

“Only mafias flourished under the Congress rule while the people of the state were the worst sufferer,” he said, adding they would now vote for BJP to usher in a new era of honest and efficient governance in the state.
