Students of School of Open Schooling (SOL) of Delhi University were a disappointed lot today as the University refused to offer them provisional admission in MA programme citing their results of graduation was awaited. Earlier, after the students’ protest, Delhi University’s Deputy Dean of Student’s Welfare, Dr G Tuteja had assured them that they would be given provisional admission to higher classes if they have passed the entrance test and even if their results are awaited.
The troubled students rushed to meet Mr Tuteja, but got to know that he was on educational trip with the students to Punjab.
"Dr. Tuteja had assured the students who had cleared the MA entrance examination, that they would be given provisional admission even if their BA results are not declared by 30 August. However, the University did not keep the promise it had made," said Maya John, a student activist.
The students alleged that they have been betrayed by the University in gaining access to higher education. The students demanded the University to declare their result along with the result of regular college students so that they can get a chance to study in regular institutions at the postgraduate level.
