New Delhi, 5 July
A 16-year-old girl has accused a married man of raping her for a long time on the pretext of marriage by posing himself as an Air Force personnel in Ghazipur area of east Delhi.
In her complaint to the police, she said that the accused even married her, in front of one of his close friends, in a temple to gain her confidence and then took her to Goa for honeymoon, where he raped her several times.
Police said that the victim lives along with her parents at Acharya Niketan Market under Pandav Nagar police station. She is a Class XII student of a nearby government school. In the year 2012, she met the accused, Durgesh Pandey, who befriended her posing as an Indian Air Force personnel.
Later, the accused began to meet her frequently and soon, proposed her for marriage. He would take her to a rented accommodation at Ghazipur area, where he used to have sex with her. Whenever the victim tried to spurn his advances, he would convince her, saying that he would marry her next month.
Police said recently, after they returned from Goa, she suspected something wrong and went to enquire about Pandey. When she went to meet him at his given address, she found that it was not existing. Later, when she met one of their common friends, she learnt that Pandey was a married man and has no job.
The victim soon informed her parents who in turn, filed a case. Her medical examination confirmed rape.
Police registered a complainant under relevant provisions of Indian Penal Code (IPC) and Protection of Children from Sexual Offences Act, 2012 (POCSO) at Ghazipur police station.
A manhunt has been launched to nab the accused.
