The Crime Branch of the Delhi Police has arrested a member of the dreaded Pappu gang for allegedly killing a Kargil war hero. He was absconding for the last eight years.
 According to the additional commissioner of police (crime branch), Mr Ravinder Yadav, the accused has been identified as Raju alias Ikram. He was absconding for the past eight years and was declared a Proclaimed Offender (PO) in the murder case of Kanti Lal Gulyani, a retired army person who had fought valiantly in the Kargil war.
 Police said that on 23 September 2005, the deceased was surrounded by a gang of pick pockets on a bus in the Capital. “When the accused tried to pick Gulyani’s pocket, he raised an alarm and caught hold of one of the members of this gang. At this, the pick pockets stabbed the victim and threw him out of the moving bus and fled the spot leaving behind the bleeding victim, who later succumbed to his injuries," said the police.
 It came to the fore during investigation that the pick-pockets of Lekh Raj alias Pappu gang, were involved in this sensational crime. Local police had arrested five accused of this gang but one Ikram could not be arrested.    Later, he was declared a proclaimed offender by a Delhi Court.
 Police said that on 19 July 2013, police got to know that Ikram would come to Delhi to meet his accomplice. Immediately, a trap was laid and Ikram was apprehended.
 The accused revealed that his brother Iqbal is second in command of this gang. The gang used to operate from different points in west Delhi from where they would board the targeted bus including Janakpuri, Uttam Nagar, Vikas Puri, Tilak Nagar and Delhi Cant bus stops.
