Former chief minister and opposition leader Prem Kumar Dhumal on Saturday urged Union Finance Minister Arun Jaitley to make adequate budgetary provisions for proposed railway projects in Himachal Pradesh.
Dhumal said Bhanupall-Bilaspur-Leh railway line is a strategic project and sufficient budgetary provision should be made in the ensuing budget.
The foundation stone of this railway line should be laid immediately keeping in view its national importance.
“There are other projects which are hanging fire since long as Pathankot-Mandi railway line via Jogindernagar, Chandigarh-Baddi railway line and Una-Hamirpur railway line. Further, the foundation stone of Nangal-Una-Talawara railway line was laid 42 years back in 1974 but the construction work of this railway line is yet to be completed,” he said.
Dhumal added while presenting the Railway Budget for the year 2015-16, railway minister had announced on the Floor of the house that the priority will be given for completion to ongoing projects.
