World Water Day

Water and gender equality

Since 1993 the global community has been observing every year on March 22 the World Water Day (WWD) focusing attention on the importance of fresh water and advocating for sustainable management of water resources.

Beach cleanup on World Water Day

World Water Day, which is celebrated annually on 22 March, witnessed Electrosteel Castings Limited taking a step towards environmental responsibility by organising a Beach Cleaning Drive at Bakkhali Beach, West Bengal.

Water smart

The point that nearly 600 million Indians face high to extreme water stress and about 200,000 people perish annually thanks to inadequate access to safe water is curiously not an issue of import; certainly not for the candidates and, regrettably, neither for the water-starved; the electorate happier being pickled in the mandir-masjid brine.

Energy for Renewal

It hardly needs to be emphasised that water is a scarce and endangered resource with both rivers and groundwater in India running dry. Thus most atomic power stations are located near the sea, changing the ecology of the shoreline and also driving away fishermen.
