On Thursday, during the presentation of the gangster case in Barabanki's MP MLA court through video-conferencing , Mukhtar Ansari's lawyer submitted his application to the court.
On June 5, 2023, the same court sentenced Mukhtar Ansari to life imprisonment in the Awadhesh Rai murder case, who has been convicted in seven cases.
The SP is still waiting for the Congress, who is presently busy with the Bharat Jodo Nyay Yatra in Uttar Pradesh.
The land in question belonged to enemy property in Dalibagh, which was in the possession of the jailed gangster.

This will be the eighth conviction of mafia don Mukhtar Ansari in the recent past including life term in the murder of Awadhesh Rai in Varanasi.

During the hearing, Mukhtar pleaded through video conferencing from Banda jail that he has nothing to do with the crime as he has been in jail since 2005.
