The Sarsanghchalak, who has been on 4-day sojourn in the state capital here since late Wednesday night, drove to Dhankya and paid floral tributes to the propounder and preacher of the principle of the "Ekstmak Manavwad" at his memorial in the village.
“We have been discussing this from day one — a memorial will be set up in Baisaran for the 26 innocent lives lost, as a lasting tribute and a reminder that they will never be forgotten,” the chief minister said.

Attacking the government, Gandhi in a post on X wrote, “The present government has completely insulted Dr Manmohan Singh, the great son of Mother India and the first Prime Minister of the Sikh community, by conducting his last rites at Nigambodh Ghat today.”
Even as Congress and BJP were involved in a political rhetoric on the place of the memorial on the name of former Prime Minister Dr Manmohan Singh, now Bahujan Samaj Party ( BSP)Chief Mayawati and Samajwadi Party (SP) President Akhilesh Yadav too have jumped into the issue.
The Infantry Day is observed on 27 October to commemorate the contributions of Infantry, the largest fighting arm of the Indian Army.
