The Rajasthan High Court has extended an interim bail to Aasaram Bapu – a convict in the rape case of a minor – till July 9 for medical treatment.
The Supreme Court on Wednesday extended till July the interim bail granted to Ashoka University professor Ali Khan Mahmudabad in connection with two FIRs registered against him over his social media comments on Operation Sindoor.
The Supreme Court on Thursday granted an interim bail till May 8 to Vikas Yadav, who is serving a 25-year jail term in 2002 Nitish Katara murder case, to attend to his ailing mother who is said to be in a serious condition.
The division bench of the high court, comprising Justice Dinesh Mehta and Justice Vinit Kumar Mathur, admitted the fresh pleas filed by Asaram's counsels, reiterating on conditions imposed by the Supreme Court while granting interim relief three months back.
Her regular bail application is pending before a Delhi court and the matter will be heard on April 20.
Not expressing any opinion on the merits of the matter, the bench said that they are inclined to extend interim order till the next date of hearing.
At the very outset, senior advocate Abhishek Manu Singhvi, appearing for Jain, submitted that the matter may be adjourned because Justice A.S. Bopanna, who presides over the special bench, is not sitting owing to illness.
The former Delhi minister was given an extension of two weeks after the bench was informed that three hospitals - GB Pant, Apollo, and Max - have recommended surgery.
Delhi police had filed a charge sheet against Brij Bhushan Sharan Singh and Vinod Tomar on June 15.
