Eight fire tenders reached the spot and brought the fire under control with a lot of effort.
The fire erupted inside the ‘Shivam Industries’ located in Sector-3 of Pithampur. Several fire tenders were pressed into service to bring it under control, and it was finally doused at around 4 AM on Thursday.
The incident occurred at 12:25 PM near the C-34 aircraft parking pier. The bus, registered as DL 1P D 3975 and operated by Air India SATS (AISATS), was reportedly powered by Compressed Natural Gas (CNG).
The explosions continued to be heard for nearly an hour after the fire started. Thick black smoke was visible from up to two kilometers away as flames engulfed the entire market within 15–20 minutes.
The fire originated from one of the four tent godowns that covers an area of 1000 square yards while each of the other three are spanning over 500 square yards. The blaze also engulfed four vintage cars parked next to the godowns, added DFS.
Meanwhile, an official of the DFS said the blaze was doused at 9.10 am. The exact cause of the fire is yet to be ascertained.
According to Delhi Fire Services (DFS) director Atul Garg, a call was received at 3:18 am regarding a fire in a restaurant at the INA Market and seven fire tenders were rushed to the spot.
According to the DFS, a call regarding the blaze was received from Pandara Road near Bikaner House at around 2.48 am, that the fire was at shop number 8, which houses a well known restaurant.
According to a fire official, a minor blaze broke out in the electricity meter panel on the ground floor of the hostel. However, no one was injured in the incident, the DFS said.
