Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta stated that the blaze, which erupted late Friday evening, was brought fully under control following the deployment of adequate firefighting teams.
On the intervening night of Monday and Tuesday, midnight onwards and till 6 am on Tuesday, the department received around 130 fire calls, of which 41 were related to firecrackers, an official said.
Notably, in August, through a memorandum, DFS introduced a one-time, one-way switch facility for Central Government employees who have already opted for UPS, allowing them to revert to the NPS.
Officials said seven fire tenders were deployed to douse the blaze and carry out rescue operations at E Block, Flatted Factory Complex, Jhandewalan, during the intervening night of Friday and Saturday.
According to the Delhi Fire Services, after the receipt of a distress call at 1:01 pm, a team was dispatched to the location. The team, with the support of the National Disaster Response Force (NDRF), Delhi Police, and local Boat Club volunteers, managed to safely rescue the man in a difficult operation before shifting him to a nearby hospital.
According to the Delhi Fire Service, they were alerted about the incident in the four-storey premises of the college, under Delhi University, to which 11 fire tenders were rushed to the site to control the blaze.
