Delhi’s air quality remains ‘poor’, temperatures likely be above normal in coming days

A sudden downpour was reported during afternoon hours from several areas in Delhi, including Pragati Maidan, ITO, Barakhamba Road, Lodi Road, and adjoining areas.
According to data from the Central Pollution Control Board (CPCB), the capital’s average AQI on Sunday stood at 79, a drop from the previous day’s reading of 105, which fell in the ‘moderate’ range. Ground-level ozone and PM10 were identified as the major pollutants.
According to IMD data recorded until 5:30 pm, Safdarjung, the capital's base weather station, recorded 12.9 mm of rainfall.
IMD issued a yellow alert for the city, forecasting a cloudy sky with rain and thunderstorms for Sunday to Monday.
The city recorded a maximum temperature of 39.7 degrees Celsius and a minimum temperature of 25.8 degrees Celsius.
According to the weather office, the city was hit by gusty winds as Safdarjung recorded a maximum wind speed of 41 kmph while it reached 46 kmph at Palam.
The weather department said the city would witness partly cloudy sky with light rain accompanied by wind with a speed reaching up to 50 KMPH during the evening and night on Wednesday and Thursday.
However, the maximum temperature saw a dip of 2.9 degrees as it settled at 37.5 degrees Celsius, the weather department said.
The sudden shift in weather brought down the temperature, providing significant relief to the residents.
