Devotees offered 'Araghya' to the rising sun as toxic foam floated on the surface of the polluted Yamuna river during Chhath Puja celebrations at Kalindi Kunj, in the national capital, on Monday morning.
Ahead of the last day of the 4-day Chhath Puja festival, devotees gathered on the banks of the Ganga river at Digha Ganga Ghat in Patna on Monday morning to worship the rising Sun.

DPCC president Chaudhary Anil Kumar has said that the Chhath Puja will be celebrated by nearly 50 lakh people of Poorvanchal living in Delhi, but the poisonous waters of the river Yamuna will prove to be hazardous for their health.
Tiwari highlighted that as the festival is also known as the festival of cleanliness, it was absolutely wrong to ban the puja on the ghats.
Delhi Lieutenant Governor VK Saxena on Wednesday approved Chhath Puja at designated ghats on the Yamuna and asked chief minister Arvind Kejriwal to ensure clean ghats and water for devotees.
The price of the Delhi to Patna flight on October 22 was Rs 14,000 while the airfare from Mumbai to Patna reached Rs 20,000. The current fare from these two places to Patna is more than the rate from Delhi to Sharjah, which is Rs 11,000. Delhi to Bangkok's current ticket costs Rs 10,500, and Delhi to Singapore is priced at Rs 13,000. The air ticket from Kolkata to Patna was hiked to Rs 10,500.
Security arrangements will be put in place by Delhi Police like installation of CCTV cameras at various locations.
