BJP MP from Alipurduar, Manoj Tigga, on Wednesday raised pressing concerns about the deplorable condition of tea garden workers across four key districts of North Bengal—Alipurduar, Jalpaiguri, Darjeeling, and North Dinajpur—during the Zero Hour in the Lok Sabha.

As part of her party’s bid to regain her party base she lost in the region in the last Lok Sabha elections, Mamata Banerjee today addressed a rally on the Alipurduar Parade Ground. Party leaders and workers from three districts of Jalpaiguri, Alipurduar and Cooch Behar attended the same.
"The state government has again decided to increase the wages of tea garden workers in the state. The wages will see a hike in the next one or two months," Mr Ghatak said.
Dilip Ghosh was on his way to Jaigaon, a town in Alipurduar bordering Bhutan, to attend a public meeting when his convoy faced random stone pelting.
Notably, Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee recently announced a government service for a family member of a person killed in such elephant attacks in the past five years.
