Yadav alleged tthat the people of Delhi no longer trust Delhi Environment Minister Gopal Rai’s hollow promises of combating air pollution.
The Commission for Air Quality Management in NCR & Adjoining Areas (CAQM) has issued an advisory to curb open-air burning in Delhi-NCR in light of the forthcoming winter season, the Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate Change said on Thursday.
Delhi Environment Minister Gopal Rai has said the Arvind Kejriwal-led government has started preparations to tackle air pollution in the winter season.
A team of officials of West Bengal Pollution Control (WBPCB) rushed to inspect the level of pollution at the site, which led to further escalation of the tension.
The top three ideas will be provided support to complete their product development and product validation over a period of six months across three cities. The ideas would be validated by the Pollution Control Board and then be recommended for large-scale implementation.
The NCR has suffered the most with Ghaziabad being the most acutely affected. Delhi, Faridabad, Noida, Greater Noida, and Gurugram were among the worst during the recent winter in terms of peak pollution. Hence the CSE’s conclusion calls for reflection ~ “Peak pollution was alarmingly high and synchronized, despite large distances within the regions ~ especially in the northern and eastern plains.”
Meanwhile, the air quality in Noida and Gurugram also remained in the 'very poor' category with AQI at 313 and 358 respectively.
As per the government agencies, and AQI between zero and 50 is considered 'good', 51 and 100 'satisfactory', 101 and 200 'moderate', 201 and 300 'poor', 301 and 400 'very poor', and 401 and 500 'severe'.
However, a new analysis of regional air pollution levels by the Centre for Science and Environment (CSE) has shown that proximity to the sea has not helped in containing the increasing air pollution in the financial capital, Mumbai.
