President Ram Nath Kovind and Prime Minister Narendra Modi were among those who wished the people on the occasion of Ram Navami on Sunday.

As millions across India celebrated the birth of Lord Ram at the end of the nine-day Navratri festival, President Kovind urged the people to follow the path of righteousness.

“Geetings and good wishes to fellow citizens on Ram Navami. Lord Rama’s life is a message in itself. Let us follow his message of adhering to the values of righteousness, treading the path of truth and building fraternity in our society,” wrote President Kovind on his official Twitter handle.

Greeting everyone on the occasion, Prime Minister Narendra Modi posted a montage of himself in which he is seen praying to and praising Lord Ram.

He is heard hailing Lord Ram as “an ideal son, ideal brother, ideal husband, ideal king” and his kingdom of Ayodhya as an “ideal city”.

Vice-President Venkaiah Naidu, too, wished the people on the occasion.

“I convey my warm greetings and good wishes to the people on the auspicious occasion of ‘Ram Navami’ which marks the birth of Lord Rama. Lord Rama is revered as an embodiment of righteousness and as an ideal human being whose life was an eloquent inspirational message,” he wrote.

“On this auspicious occasion, let us draw inspiration from the great epic hero’s illustrious saga that provided the philosophical basis for Mahatma Gandhiji’s vision for our country’s polity,” the V-P added in a another tweet.
