AAP councilors protest against cancellation of mayoral polls
The party may move the court after taking legal opinion on the matter, said AAP leader Durgesh Pathak.
In order to arrest BSP leader and former minister Haji Yakoob and his son in an attempt to murder and land grabbing case, the police conducted raid at his house in the dead of the night on Tuesday in the Kotwali area.
However, the cops did not find Haji Yakoob and his son Imraan Qureshi.
A team of police, led by SP (city) Akhilesh Narayan Singh, raided the house of Haji Yakoob in Sarai Behleem locality of Kotwali area at around 1.30 pm on Tuesday night. The SP was accompanied by Circle Officer of Kotwali area Dinesh Shukla, Kithor area circle officer Alok and cops of eight police stations. The police team raided the house and searched for Yakoob and Imran but they were not in the house at that time.

“The raid was conducted in connection of a case of attempt to murder and land-grabbing registered in Kharkhauada police station of Kithore circle in which Yakoob and his son were named,” told the SP City, adding that further raids would be conducted to arrest them.
The complaint was lodged by Muzammil, a resident of Hajipur naming Haji Yakoob and his son Imran Qureshi for grabbing his family land in 2005 by making fake documents. He won the case from the court and went for taking possession from Yakoob and his son who allegedly attacked him and forced him to go away from there in spite of the court orders. Muzzamil then approached Kharkhauda police and registered a case of grabbing land and attempt to murder against the duo.
Haji Yakoob has been in BSP for the past many years and was also a minister in the UP government. He had contested previous general elections on the ticket of BSP in which he was defeated by BJP candidate Rajendra Agarwal with a thin margin. He also has an export business of frozen meat.
