PM Modi pays tribute to Morarji Desai on his 122nd birth anniversary

Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Wednesday paid tributes to the former PM of India, Morarji Desai on the occasion of his 122nd birth anniversary.

This is the official twitter account of Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, Government of India tweeted; The Prime Minister, Narendra Modi paying floral tributes to the former Prime Minister of India, Shri Morarji Desai on the occasion of his birth anniversary in New Delhi.

Morarji Desai is a Gujarati who was born at Bhadeli village, Bulsar district in the Bombay Presidency (now in Gujarat) on 29 February 1896.

He was an Indian independence activist and served between 1977 and 1979 as the fourth Prime Minister of India for the government formed by the Janata Party.

During his long career in politics, he held many important posts in government such as: Chief Minister of Bombay State, Home Minister, Finance Minister and second Deputy Prime Minister of India.

He died on 10 April 1995 at the age of 99.
