The Madhya Pradesh cabinet, led by Chief Minister Dr Mohan Yadav, on Wednesday thanked Prime Minister Narendra Modi for the Rs 75,000 crore worth Parvati-Kalisindh-Chambal rivers link project and Union Road Transport Minister Nitin Gadkari for granting road projects worth Rs 10,405 crore to MP.

During the cabinet meeting, CM Dr Yadav said the Parvati-Kalisindh-Chambal Link Project, pending for almost two decades, would now take shape with the initiative of Prime Minister Modi.

The project would benefit 12 districts of Malwa and Chambal region of Madhya Pradesh and 13 districts of Eastern Rajasthan. The CM expressed happiness that availability of drinking water would increase in these areas and water would also be available for irrigation and industrial use.

He informed that the state’s share, in the project worth Rs 75,000 crore, is 10 per cent, whereas the Centre’s share is 90 per cent.

Dr Yadav also said that the bhoomi pujan of another major venture, the Ken-Betwa link project, would be conducted in February 2024.

Chief Minister Yadav said that National Highway projects would provide quick and easy road transport facilities in all the divisions of the state.

Before the cabinet meeting, Madhya Pradesh Governor Mangubhai Patel held an informal meeting with the CM, all the cabinet ministers and ministers of state at the Governor House in the morning.

This was the Governor’s first interaction with the entire council of ministers after the formation of the Dr Mohan Yadav-led BJP state government in December 2023.
