Mocking the investigative agencies for “making noises in the media”, key accused in PNB scam Nirav Modi’s lawyer, Vijay Aggarwal on Tuesday said that the case will “collapse” in the court just like the 2G and Bofors cases.

“Just like the 2G, Bofors and coalgate case, this case will also collapse. Agencies are making noises in the media but they will not be able to prove the charges in a court of law,” Aggarwal told the media.

“No one is looking at it rationally. I am sure Nirav Modi will not be found guilty,” he added.

Aggarwal further said that the first information report (FIR) in the case was baseless and held no value and that he was waiting for the chargesheet to be filed in the case.

“Allegations are only allegations… There has to be some proof backing them,” Aggarwal said adding that prima facie there was no criminal case against Nirav Modi.

“There is no case against Nirav Modi,” he said.

Meanwhile, breaking his silence over the Rs.11,000 crore PNB fraud, defiant key accused Nirav Modi has slammed the bank for going public and “destroying” his brand while expressing his inability to repay the debt.

In a letter written to Punjab National Bank’s (PNB) management on February 15-16, Modi blamed PNB’s overzealousness for shutting the doors on his ability to clear the dues.
