J-K youth can contribute ‘greatly’ to the nation, says PM Modi

Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Saturday said “talented youngsters” from Jammu and Kashmir can contribute “greatly” to the nation and he was ecstatic to see more youth from the state joining the civil services.

In a tweet, Modi said he had a “lively interaction” with the group of 24 school girls, from classes 6th to 8th on education, Swachh Bharat Mission as well as yoga as part of the Indian Army’s Operation Sadbhavna.

“Delighted to welcome a delegation of school girls from Jammu and Kashmir… The school children and I had a lively interaction on areas pertaining to education, Swachh Bharat, benefits of Yoga,” Modi tweeted.

“The talented youngsters from Jammu and Kashmir can contribute greatly to the nation. It is gladdening to see more youth from the state joining the civil services and showing great potential in sports,” he added.

“They were particularly keen to know about the steps our government is taking towards furthering girl child education,” he said further.

Currently on a tour to various parts of the country, the students were thrilled when Modi mentioned the names of cricketer Parvez Rasool, and UPSC topper and IAS Officer Shah Faisal, a statement said.

Modi said he looked forward to meeting the youth icons from the state soon.

In a reply to a question from a student, the prime minister said the state of Jammu and Kashmir had a lot of potential in sectors such as tourism and horticulture.
