Himachal Pradesh on Wednesday passed the supplementary budget of Rs 13141.07 crore without any discussion.

Chief Minister Thakur Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu had presented the supplementary budget for the year 2022-23 in the Vidhan Sabha on Tuesday.

The chief minister also presented the Himachal Pradesh Appropriation Bill in the House regarding this supplementary budget and that too was passed by the House.

In the supplementary budget, Rs 11,707.68 crore has been allocated for state-sponsored schemes and Rs 1,433.39 crore for centrally-sponsored schemes.

Under state schemes, Rs 6,004.63 crore has been earmarked for Wages and Means and Overdraft; Rs 1,260.65 crore for pension and retirement benefits, Rs 551.48 crore for electricity subsidy; and Rs 444.03 crore for construction of hospitals, purchase of medical equipment, and Himcare scheme.

Also, Rs 435.08 crore has been fixed for senior secondary schools, Rs 289.38 crore for the buildings of colleges and payment of salaries to employees, Rs 289.38 crore for Himachal Road Transport Corporation, and Rs 284.79 crore for Chief Minister’s ‘Sukh Ashray Kosh’, Sukh Ashray Bhavan construction and social security pension.

The supplementary budget has allocated Rs 279.06 crore for water supply and sewerage schemes. Rs 226.51 crore for natural calamity relief, Rs 209.33 crore for Mukhyamantri Swavalamban Yojana, Pradhan Mantri Gati Shakti Yojana, optical cable fiber network and digital expansion of government departments, Rs 208.42 crore for pending liabilities of crop insurance scheme, crop diversification, mandi mediation scheme, and gardens development project.

Under centrally-sponsored schemes, most of the funds are proposed for ongoing and new development schemes for which funds have been received from the Centre during the year.

Out of this Rs 400 crore is for disaster management received from NDRF, Rs 221.96 crore for MNREGA, Rs 141.78 crore for Smart City Mission, Rs 140.91 crore for Covid-19 emergency services and health package, Rs 95.60 crore for Central Road Fund, Rs 47 crore for the PMGSY, Rs 43.08 crore for the Rashtriya Gram Swaraj Abhiyan and Rs 34.47 crore for the Swachh Bharat Mission Rural.
